Remember!

While most people who use our site have success with buying, selling, renting or connecting with others, there will always be individuals attempting to scam or defraud our users. The best way to prevent this is to ensure that all transactions take place locally and in-person.

Remember that ads are not reviewed before they go live on the site and, while we do our best to detect and delete any ad that looks suspect, we cannot guarantee the correctness and validity of any ad, contact details or other information posted by the users of our site.

Magick Classifieds Does Not:

• handle payments or shipping
• guarantee transactions
• offer “buyer protection” or “seller certification”

Safety Warnings!

• Avoid fraud and scams by meeting all sellers/buyers in-person to pay for items and receive them!
• Never send or wire money to sellers or buyers. Never pay with Western Union, Money Gram, Bidpayor other anonymous payment services or by mailing a cheque.
• Don't buy or sell outside of your country.
• Don't accept cashier check from outside your country.
• Never provide your personal or banking information (e.g. social insurance number, credit card number) to others over the Internet.
• Never give out your Magick Classifieds password, even if asked to do so in an email supposedly sent by Magick Classifieds employees.
• Do not believe the promise of large sums of money for your help in any task.
• Especially, beware of the Animals and Electronic Products ads!
• Inform Magick Classifieds of any attempted fraud or suspicious emails, ads, or other activity by community members.
• Use common sense. If it sounds suspicious, it probably is.
• MagickClassifieds is never involved in any transaction, and does not handle payments, shipping, guarantee transactions, offer “buyer protection” or “seller certification”.

Common scams and fraud:

• You get an email that claims to be from Magick Classifieds or another company and offers buyer protection or an online payment system (these emails will typically request that you send money via this site or provide personal information). Magick Classifieds will never send out such emails. If you send money via these sites you will likely be scammed.
• A buyer or seller will send you a cheque and then ask for money to be returned to them. Often the cheque will bounce and you will have lost all money you sent to the other party.
• A seller claims that there are brokerage fees, import duties, or other such fees required to get an item into the country. Do not pay such fees, as you will most often never get the product and will have lost any money you paid.
• A buyer or seller suggests using an escrow service to complete the transaction. Often these escrow web sites are run by fraudsters (even though they may look "official") and they will take your money and never send you the product.
• Many work from home offers are "pyramid schemes" which require you to recruit other members in order to get paid.

How to report spam, scams and fraud:

• If you see an ad on the Magick Classifieds site that you suspect is spam, scam, illegal, or otherwise violates Magick Classifieds policies and Terms of Use, please send us an email at contact@magickclassifieds.com containing the link or ID of the respective ad. Reporting ads brings the ad to our attention so that we will review and delete it quickly if necessary.
• If you reply to an ad and the person who posted the ad emails you with a suspicious request (eg. asks for money to be sent to them via a payment service), please forward us the email and stop all communications with that person.
• If you are the victim of fraud, inform us and, most important, your local police service.

Remember: If something looks too good to be true, it probably is!!!
